Putting up for sale my 998cc 1982 Austin mini Mayfair. I had been using it as my daily driver up until about 6 months ago, when I bought a newer car so the mini didn't have to suffer the abuse of driving everyday through another bad winter. I'm now going to be up north a lot for work and the mini is too good to just sit not being used, so I'm putting up for sale to someone who can give it a good home. The previous owner had done a full restoration on it (there is a build diary online of this which I can send to anyone interested, as the ad is not allowed links to websites for some reason) I have then done a few extra things to it over the time I've owned it. Along with the work which can be seen in the link above and regular servicing, I have: Added minilite alloys which have been wrapped Recently uprated the suspension with new shocks and the brakes with drilled and grooved discs on the front with greenstuff pads and performance shoes on the back. I also replaced one of the calipers and both the brake cylinders on the back. Recently replaced the steering column Refurbished the grill and covered it with plastidip to protect it and added the quick release buttons Wired in a stereo with ipod control Replaced the rocker cover Added the union jack to the roof (this is a vinyl decal thay can be peeled off if the next owner doesn't want it!) Replaced the old wing mirrors with the white Cooper style ones For its last mot I replaced the upper and lower ball joints on the passenger side and the wheel bearing on the rear drivers side (this was the only required work for the mot in November) Despite the car being 33 years old now it has actually been very reliable and never let me down, even when it was my daily driver. There are a couple of areas that could do with being tidied, like around the boot lid and the headlights there are some rust bubbles, but nothing major. The door seal leaks slightly in very heavy rain so the back carpet gets damp but again, it's not that bad. The front passenger floor pan could also do with replacing as it's a bit rusty, the rest of the car is solid though and a new floor pan from mini spares is about 20 quid, I just haven't had any time to do any of these bits to the car recently. During the restoration by the previous owner (done about 3 years ago) he replaced the subframes and also resprayed the car, along with a lot if other work, so it's really in a decent condition for its age, just could do with a few small bits of tidying up. The engine is solid as well and starts first time, every time and runs great. If you are interested in coming to see the car send me a text or an email and I can arrange a time. I'm in no rush to sell the car and I'll be sad to see it go so I won't take any silly offers. Mot until November and no tax obviously due to the new law (tax is only about £100 for the year anyway) Cheers
